Where we are

In 1998 DMFC acquired the use of a regular flying site Bankend, about 7 miles south east of Dumfries town centre. The site is situated well away from built up areas and is accessed by a track from the road. This location gives us a big advantage when considering noise pollution and safety.

During the summer months, the site is often used on a daily basis as it is available to all members at any time. However, Tuesday and Thursday evenings are "official" flying slots along with Sunday afternoon.
Although winter can curtail the evening flying somewhat, Sundays still see the stalwarts shivering over engines that won't start and telling each other that summer is just around the corner!

If you're familiar with the area then click on the map to the right for details of the location.

If not, then clicking on the map below will give a general idea of where we are.

To keep our spirits up from October to March, meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month, commencing at 7.00 pm at the Moreig Hotel on the Annan Road in Dumfries.
